Charity eases chronic pain with pioneering internet radio show

Pain Concern, a UK charity that provides support to people living with chronic pain, has started its new internet radio programme Airing Pain.  The programmes cover a number of topics in chronic pain, such as neuropathic pain, young people and pain, can diet affect chronic pain?, work and benefits, leading pain specialists interviews, visits to pain centres across the country and interviews with people discussing their personal experiences. So far Pain Concern has broadcast 11 programmes and plans to continue while funding lasts.

Feedback on the programmes from listeners has been overwhelmingly good including listeners from outside the UK. One listener commented "As a person that lives with chronic pain I would like to say thanks for the radio shows. At times you feel like the only one out there, and it helps to know there are others going through the same issues." Australian listener via e-mail, and another listener commented on our facebook page “It's great that Pain Concern are working so hard to improve people's understanding and acceptance of chronic pain, and also help patients to know how to speak to their doctors and other medical staff to ensure they get the best help. Let’s hope lots of people listen to the programme!”.

The Airing Pain programmes are broadcast every fortnight at 11am and 8pm on Ableradio.com, with programmes repeated at the same times the following week.

Free podcasts of the programmes remain available at www.ableradio.com/podcasts/airing-pain, and CDs can be purchased from Pain Concern.

We at Pain Concern will continue to produce these high quality, informative programmes to ensure that people in chronic pain have a voice..
