GOODBYE CLARE!
As some of you may know the lovely Clare Grey has recently left Input for a new role elsewhere. We would like to send her a big thanks for all her hard work and commitment, without which PPIP would not exist! Her support over the years has been crucial to the development of PPIP and at our most recent members General Meeting in November this year; we awarded Clare with a lifetime membership award to PPIP to show our great appreciation. Taking over Clare’s role at Input is Amy Cowburn. Amy had previously spent time working at Input a few years ago on a student placement whilst studying at University. Having enjoyed her time so much, she has decided to return to Input and is very excited at the prospect of becoming involved with PPIP. Amy is originally from Burnley in Lancashire and has recently completed a psychology degree at the University of Surrey in Guildford. We would like to welcome Amy to PPIP.

PPIP Open Day: 2-4pm open to all graduates who have completed their 9 month follow-upOn the 20th September 2008, PPIP held its first ever social gathering within the Input building at St. Thomas’ Hospital. From sending out invitations to graduates of the programme, we were proud to have approximately 50 people in attendance, which also helped reunite groups from their programmes! Graduates got the opportunity to meet the current committee members of PPIP, whilst also hearing a speech from Amanda and Carron who were representing them. They also heard a few words from Clare Grey, a Psychologist on the programme, who spoke about the process of forming PPIP - including all the research she and others undertook in the very beginning! As well as hearing from Clare, everyone had the chance to take part in a very informative ‘Question & Answer’ session with representatives from each speciality at Input. Vicki Harding represented the Physio’s, Gaynor Bannister for the OT’s, Helen Jones for the Nurses, and of course Clare Grey for the Psychologists. This went extremely well and it certainly got everyone talking!
Plenty of tea and cakes were available on the day, which set the mood for lots of chatting and socialising amongst the guests! A big talking point was the news that the PPIP website was now live and it can now be accessed at www.ppip.org.uk. Hopefully everyone was eager to get home and try it out!
We at PPIP feel that this event was a great success, and we hope that all attendees really enjoyed themselves. New and current PPIP members will have the opportunity to attend more events like this in the future.
Lastly, our thanks go out to all the committee and speakers that put so much effort into making the afternoon run smoothly. Also a special mention to Ruby, who made the beautiful buttonholes for both the committee, and for people who made donations on the day!
We would also like to send out a big thank you to all that attended the afternoon, with your £2 entrance fee and your donations, you all helped raise £106, which will all go towards the development of PPIP in the future.
We hope to see you all again soon!
