About Kathy Fryatt

I am Kathy Fryatt from Sevenoaks in Kent. I work as a Resident Sheltered Housing Support Worker and have been part of the Input Steering Group for 2 years. I have had the condition Fybromyalgia for many years, but it wasn’t until 2003, when I had a private consultation with a Professor, that this was confirmed. He suggested in the letter sent to my G.P. that I might benefit from the Input Programme and a locum at my surgery very kindly referred me. I spent two weeks on the Programme in the spring of 2004.

I found this time very helpful in a number of ways; in particular, that the pain I experience was believed and all the staff were interested enough to help me make a real significant difference to managing the painful condition. I also gained understanding about coping with pain which made it possible for me to remain positive about working and achieving an active life. I found it a great support to be with a group of people with similar health issues and have really appreciated the on-going contact and support whilst being part of the steering group.
